The ability to efficiently store excess power provided by vehicle batteries (vehicle-to-grid, V2G) and battery-supported charging stations to subsequently retrieve it during peak demand periods opens up completely new avenues for grid optimisation. With the introduction of electric mobility, this approach also enables conversion of the power grid (smart grid) without subjecting the grid to heavy additional loads.
On the contrary: each station and each vehicle serves as a potential buffer for the purpose of grid balancing.
