Press Release / 04. march 2010

Electric cars – when will they make the breakthrough? The company Texx AG presents revolutionary innovations in this field, which will allow the everyday usability of electric mobility to become a reality.

The conditions for success and broad-based acceptance are range on the one hand and charging speed on the other. Anyone who can improve these two critical elements will therefore stand an excellent chance of driving development significantly forwards. These achievements will allow the disadvantages of electric cars compared to vehicles powered by fossil fuels to be largely put to one side.

At the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the company Texx AG will exhibit a first for the automotive industry in the form of a customised product that represents a quantum leap for e-mobility and makes an important contribution to accelerating the acceptance of electric cars. This product is a patented Lithium Battery Management System (BMS), which controls the dual voltage and parallel charging logic balancing of all currently known lithium cells. The patented multi-levelling algorithm makes it possible to extract virtually all the energy stored in the accumulators. This improves the criteria of “range” and “charging speed” many times over. The “TexxInside” BMS works 1 and 3-phase on 230/400V and supports fast DC/DC charging up to 160 Amps! An innovative control and monitoring system prevents the batteries from overheating and therefore makes an essential contribution to the longevity and safety of the entire product. Various test drives have impressively demonstrated the system’s potential: a purely electrically powered Citroen Saxo with the “TexxInside” BMS managed to make the journey from Central Switzerland to Genoa on the Mediterranean – a distance of over 300 km on a single charge! Standardised interfaces based on automotive industry standards enable the “TexxInside” BMS to be integrated into any car’s on-board computer.

The first cars fitted with the “TexxInside” BMS – a Fiat Panda and a Fiat 500 – have a range of 230 km per charge and can be “refuelled” in around 50 minutes (DC/DC). Electric cars equipped with the “TexxInside” BMS therefore ought to be able to achieve the current maximum daily range of much more than 500 km.

However, the efficiency of the Texx solution does not end there. The performance of the system can be increased even further through the use of technically completely redesigned power charging stations from TexxEnergy AG. The latest electricity filling station generation of TexxEnergy supplies the next record performance: An almost full charge can be achieved in just 50 minutes! The TexxEnergy TM series “HighwayStar” has a hybrid design that allows different charging types (230/400V from the mains and DC/DC from accumulators) to be used simultaneously.
